Car
If you are traveling by car, begin your journey by getting onto the Tohoku Expressway from your current location in Tohoku. Drive towards the Inawashiro area, and then take the exit for Bandai-Kazamidake. Continue on Route 115 until you reach the Kengamine area. Follow the signs for Goshikinuma Ponds, which is located at Kengamine Hibara, Kitashiobara, Yama District, Fukushima 966-0501. There is parking available near the ponds, but be aware that there is a parking fee of approximately 500 yen. The total drive time will vary based on your starting point but expect around 1 to 2 hours from major cities like Fukushima or Aizu-Wakamatsu.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking a train to Inawashiro Station from your location. Once you arrive at Inawashiro Station, you will need to take a bus to Goshikinuma Ponds. The bus service is operated by Fukushima Kotsu and runs several times a day. Confirm the schedule in advance, as the frequency can vary depending on the season. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Ensure you have some cash on hand, as the bus fare is approximately 800 yen one way. Once you arrive, follow the signs to the ponds, which are within walking distance from the bus stop.
