Discover more about Hanamiyama Park

Hanamiyama Park offers a breathtaking panorama of floral beauty, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors each spring. What began in 1936 as local farmers planting ornamental trees has blossomed into one of Fukushima's most beloved attractions. The Abe family opened their privately-owned farmland to the public, creating a space where visitors can immerse themselves in a vibrant landscape. During the peak season, from late March to mid-April, the park explodes with color as nearly 70 species of flowers bloom in succession. Cherry blossoms, including the iconic Somei Yoshino, mingle with plum blossoms, forsythia, quince, dogwood, and magnolia, painting the hillsides in shades of pink, red, and yellow. Walking paths wind through the hills, offering stunning views of the surrounding valley and the snow-capped Azuma Mountains. Visitors can choose from several walking courses, ranging from 30 to 60 minutes, each offering unique perspectives and photo opportunities. The trails lead to viewpoints where you can admire the floral tapestry and the city of Fukushima below. The park also develops a second area with cherry trees on the northern slopes, which is newer and less crowded. Hanamiyama Park is more than just a visual spectacle; it's a testament to the dedication and passion of the local community. The park's history is rooted in the efforts of local farmers who transformed the mountainside into a floral haven. Today, three generations of the Abe family continue to care for Hanamiyama, ensuring its beauty for years to come.
