Getting there

Driving

From Yamagata Station, drive towards the Nishi-Zao area. Follow the signs for Ryuzan and the Nishi-Zao Bokujo (West Zao Ranch). The drive takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Parking is available near the trailhead. From the parking area, it's a hike to the waterfall.

Public Transport

From Yamagata Station, take a Yamako bus towards Nishi-Zao. Get off at a bus stop near the Nishi-Zao Bokujo. From there, it's a walk to the trailhead. Check the Yamako Bus schedule for accurate timings and bus stop locations. The bus ride takes approximately 45-60 minutes. A Yamagata 1-day pass might be useful.

Walking

From the Nishi-Zao Bokujo parking area or nearby bus stop, follow the hiking trail to Ryuzan Otaki. The trail is well-marked but can be snowy and icy in winter, so wear appropriate footwear. The hike to the waterfall takes approximately 30-45 minutes.
