Getting There

  • Walking

    From Zao Onsen Bus Terminal, walk towards the Zao Chuo Ropeway Onsen Station. The walk is approximately 1 kilometer and takes about 20 minutes. From there, purchase a ticket for the Zao Chuo Ropeway and Zao Sky Cable to access the highland area. Cost: Ropeway and Sky Cable ticket prices vary depending on the season and any special events.     Take a bus from Yamagata Station to Zao Onsen Bus Terminal. From the bus terminal, it is a 20-minute walk to the Zao Chuo Ropeway Onsen Station. Cost: Bus fare from Yamagata Station to Zao Onsen Bus Terminal is approximately 1,200 yen.

    From the Yamagata Zao IC exit of the Tohoku Expressway, follow the signs to Zao Onsen. Continue through Zao Onsen to reach the Zao Chuo Ropeway Onsen Station.
