Experience Okama

Getting There

  • Car

    From Zao Onsen, take Route 282 heading northwest. Continue straight for about 5 km until you reach the Zao Echo Line entrance. Follow the Zao Echo Line for approximately 11 km. You will encounter a toll gate; the fee is around 700 yen for a standard car. After passing the toll gate, continue on the Zao Echo Line until you reach the Okama parking lot. The parking lot is located near the trailhead, from where you can start your hike to Okama. Note that the Zao Echo Line can close due to snow in winter, so check local conditions before your visit.

  • Public Transportation

    Start at Zao Onsen Bus Terminal. Take the Zao Onsen to Jizō Sawa bus, which operates regularly throughout the day. The fare is about 600 yen and the journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you alight at Jizō Sawa, follow the marked trail leading to Okama. The hike from Jizō Sawa to Okama is approximately 1 hour, so be prepared with appropriate footwear and water.
