Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from the Petra Visitor Center, exit the center and head south along the main trail through the Siq (the narrow gorge leading to Petra). Continue walking for approximately 1.2 kilometers until you reach the Treasury (Al-Khazneh). From the Treasury, follow the path leading up to the right towards the High Place of Sacrifice. After about 30 minutes of climbing, you will reach the High Place of Sacrifice. From here, continue on the trail that leads to Ad-Dayr (the Monastery). This trail will take about 45 minutes to an hour. The path is well marked, and you will enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

If you are at the Petra Archaeological Park, take the main path that leads towards the Monastery. Follow the signs for Ad-Dayr. This route is about 2 kilometers and will take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on your pace. The trail is steep in sections, so be prepared for a workout. Along the way, you will pass by various tombs and ancient structures carved into the rock face.

From the end of the Roman Road in Petra, which is a popular spot for tourists, you can access the trail to Ad-Dayr. Look for the signs directing you to the Monastery.
