Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from the main entrance of Charyn Canyon, start by heading east on the main road (Unnamed Rd) for about 10 kilometers. Keep an eye out for roadside signage indicating the direction to the Charyn Canyon Viewpoint. The viewpoint is located at coordinates 43.3547892, 79.0619113. Once you reach the viewpoint parking area, you can park your vehicle and proceed to the viewpoint, which is a short walk from the parking lot.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, you will first need to take a bus or shared taxi from Almaty to the town of Taldykorgan. From Taldykorgan, you can take another bus or shared taxi towards Charyn Canyon. Make sure to tell the driver that you want to go to the Charyn Canyon Viewpoint. The driver will drop you off near the entrance of the canyon, where you will need to walk approximately 1-2 kilometers to reach the viewpoint. It's advisable to check the schedules in advance, as they can vary.

• Hiking

  For those who enjoy hiking, you can start your journey from the Charyn Canyon main area. There are trails leading to the viewpoint. Follow the marked paths that ascend towards the higher cliffs. The hike can take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on your pace. Ensure to carry enough water and wear proper hiking shoes as the terrain can be rocky.
