Car
From the Kolsai Lakes Park entrance, drive towards the first lake, Kolsai Lake 1. Follow the signs leading to Kolsai Lakes and maintain a steady pace on the road. After about 30 minutes, you will reach the parking area for Kolsai Lake 1. Park your car here and prepare for a hike. The viewpoint is approximately 5 km from this parking area.
Hike
Starting from the parking area at Kolsai Lake 1, head to the marked hiking trail that leads towards the Sierra Alatau viewpoint. The trail is well-trodden but can be steep in sections, so be prepared for a moderate hike. It should take around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the viewpoint. Follow the signs along the trail that point towards 'Viewpoint' and enjoy the scenic views along the way.
Public Transportation
If you're using public transportation, take a bus or shared taxi from Almaty to the village of Saty, which is the closest settlement to Kolsai Lakes National Park. Once in Saty, you can hire a local taxi to take you directly to the park entrance. Upon arrival, follow the same instructions for driving to Kolsai Lake 1 and then proceed to hike to the viewpoint.
