Car
If you are driving, start from the main entrance of Kolsai Lakes National Park. Follow the road signs leading to Lake Kolsai, which is about 12 kilometers away from the entrance. After arriving at Lake Kolsai, continue along the designated paths and follow the signs to the Water Level Viewpoint. The viewpoint is located approximately 3 kilometers from the lake's main area. Parking is available near the viewpoint, but be aware that some areas may require a parking fee. Make sure to check the local signage for details.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a bus or a shared minivan from Almaty to Saty village, which is the closest settlement to Kolsai Lakes. The journey takes around 4-5 hours and costs approximately 1,500-2,000 KZT. Once in Saty, you can hire a local taxi or join a group tour that can take you to Kolsai Lakes. The taxi ride will cost about 2,000-3,000 KZT and will drop you off at the entrance of the park. From there, follow the walking trails and signs to reach the Water Level Viewpoint, which is around a 3-kilometer hike from the lake area.
Hiking
For those who prefer an adventurous approach, once you are at Lake Kolsai, you can hike to the Water Level Viewpoint. The trail is well-marked and offers stunning views along the way. Make sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring enough water. The hike is approximately 3 kilometers and can take around 1-2 hours depending on your pace. Keep an eye out for signage indicating the viewpoint, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery!
