If you're traveling by car within the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, start from the Bandy Creek Visitor Center. Head east on Bandy Creek Rd, then turn left onto US-27 S. Continue for approximately 12 miles. Turn right onto KY-92 W and follow it for about 6 miles. Look for Blue Heron Rd on your left. Follow Blue Heron Rd for about 2 miles until you reach the Blue Heron Mining Community. Parking is available on-site, but there may be a small fee for parking, so be prepared.
