Getting There

    If you are driving, start from the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park Visitor Center, located at 101 Kyles Ford Road, Cumberland Gap, TN 37724. Head south on Kyles Ford Road and turn right onto US-25E S. Continue on this road for about 6 miles until you reach the Wilderness Road Trail. Turn left onto Wilderness Road Trail. After about 2 miles, you will find the Cumberland Gap Marker on your right. There is no entry fee for the park, but make sure to have enough fuel for the journey.

  • Public Transportation

    Public transportation options are limited in this area. If you are staying in nearby towns like Middlesboro or Harrogate, you may need to use a rideshare service or a taxi to reach the park. From Middlesboro, you can take a taxi to the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park Visitor Center, which is approximately 10 miles away. After arriving at the Visitor Center, follow the driving directions provided above to reach the Cumberland Gap Marker. Expect to pay around $20-$30 for a taxi ride.

    If you are already within Cumberland Gap National Historical Park and wish to walk to the Cumberland Gap Marker, you can follow the Wilderness Road Trail. Starting from the Visitor Center, take the paved path leading towards the trailhead. Continue on the Wilderness Road Trail for about 2 miles. The trail is relatively flat but may have some uneven sections. The marker will be located on your right. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. There is no cost to walk the trail.
