Car
If you're driving from Nyeri, take the Nyeri-Nairobi Road (A2) heading towards Nairobi. After approximately 16 kilometers, turn left onto the Aberdare National Park entrance road. This road leads directly into the park. Make sure to have a map or GPS as several signs may not be well marked. The entrance fee for vehicles is approximately 1,200 KES for residents and 3,000 KES for non-residents. Once inside, follow the road signs to your desired destination within the Aberdare Range.
Public Transport
From Nyeri town, you can catch a matatu (shared taxi) heading to Aberdare National Park. The matatus depart from the Nyeri bus terminal regularly. The fare is typically around 200 KES. Inform the driver that you wish to go to Aberdare National Park. They will drop you off at the park entrance. From there, you may need to walk or arrange for a local taxi to take you deeper into the park, as public transport is limited inside.
Local Taxi
After arriving at the Aberdare National Park entrance by matatu, you can hire a local taxi or arrange for a guide to take you to various attractions within the Aberdare Range. Taxi fares can vary, but expect to pay around 2,000 to 4,000 KES depending on the distance and duration of your trip. Always negotiate the fare beforehand and ensure that the taxi is registered.
