Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving, start from the main entrance of Chyulu Hills National Park. Head southeast on the main road until you reach the junction near the Chyulu Hills Resort. Take the left turn towards Kalamba. Continue on this road for approximately 15 kilometers. As you approach Kalamba, look for a small sign indicating the direction to Nzaui Mountain. Follow this road for another 5 kilometers until you reach the base of Nzaui Mountain. Parking is available at the base.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transportation, take a matatu (shared taxi) from the main town (such as Mtito Andei) to Kalamba. The matatus leave regularly and the fare is usually around 100-200 KES. Once you arrive in Kalamba, you may need to hire a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you the remaining distance to Nzaui Mountain, which should cost about 300-500 KES depending on the negotiation. The boda-boda will take you directly to the base of the mountain.

  • Hiking

    If you are already in the vicinity of Nzaui Mountain and prefer to hike, you can take a guided hiking trip from the nearby lodges or camps within Chyulu Hills National Park. Ensure to arrange this through your accommodation, which may charge a guide fee ranging from 1,500 to 3,000 KES per person depending on the length of the hike.
