Car
From the town of Garissa, head north on the A3 highway towards the town of Modogashe. Continue on this route for approximately 120 kilometers until you reach the junction with the B6 road. Turn onto the B6 road and drive for another 60 kilometers until you reach the turn-off for Nyiri Desert. Follow the dirt road signs leading into the desert area. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for off-road conditions, as some sections may be challenging.
Public Transportation
Take a matatu (shared taxi) from Garissa to Modogashe. The journey will take about 2-3 hours, depending on road conditions. Once in Modogashe, you will need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a motorbike taxi to take you the remaining 60 kilometers to the Nyiri Desert. Ensure to negotiate your fare before starting the journey, as there might be limited options for return transport.
Walking
If you are already at a nearby village or settlement, you can walk towards Nyiri Desert. Make sure to ask locals for the best footpaths leading into the desert, as well as to ensure your safety and navigate through the area. Carry sufficient water and food supplies, as the desert can be harsh and remote.
