Car
If you are traveling by car from any location in Chyulu Hills, start by heading towards the town of Chala. Follow the main road towards the Chyulu Hills National Park entrance. Once you reach Chala, continue on the main road for about 10 kilometers. Look for signs indicating the Rhino Sanctuary; it is located a short distance past the Chala community area. The sanctuary is well-marked and easily accessible by vehicle.
Public Transportation
To reach the Rhino Sanctuary using public transportation, first, find a matatu (shared taxi) from your current location in Chyulu Hills to the town of Chala. Ensure you confirm with the driver that they will drop you off near the Rhino Sanctuary. The ride may take around 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Chala, you can either walk the remaining distance to the sanctuary or hire a local boda boda (motorcycle taxi) for a quicker trip. Negotiate the fare beforehand, which should typically be around 100-300 KES.
Boda Boda
If you're already in Chala, you can hire a boda boda to take you directly to the Rhino Sanctuary. This is a popular and convenient option for tourists. Just ask around for a local boda boda rider, and they will take you there. The fare for this short ride should cost approximately 100-200 KES. Make sure to agree on the price before starting your journey.
