Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Mombasa city, and then follow the signs for Shanzu Beach. The Mombasa Marine Park & Reserve is located near the Shanzu area. From Mombasa city center, take Moi Avenue and turn onto the Mombasa-Malindi Highway (A14). Continue on this highway until you reach the junction for Shanzu. Turn right onto the road leading to Shanzu Beach. Look for signs indicating Mombasa Marine Park. There is a parking area available near the entrance. Note that there might be a small entrance fee for the park.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transport, you can take a matatu (shared minibus) from Mombasa city to Shanzu. Head to the main matatu stage (usually near Moi Avenue) and look for matatus heading towards Shanzu. The fare is relatively low, typically around 50-100 KES. Once you arrive at Shanzu, you may need to walk a short distance to reach the Marine Park entrance. It's advisable to ask locals for directions to ensure you find the right path. Keep some cash handy for the entrance fee.

• Bicycle

  If you enjoy cycling, consider renting a bicycle in Mombasa and biking to Mombasa Marine Park. Take the same route as if you were driving, but be cautious of traffic. The ride from Mombasa city to Shanzu is approximately 15 km. Once you reach Shanzu, follow the signs to the Marine Park. Remember to wear a helmet and carry water, as it can be hot. There may be bicycle rental shops in the city that charge around 500 KES for a day.

• Taxi

  You can also opt for a taxi from Mombasa city to Mombasa Marine Park. This is a more comfortable option, especially if you are traveling with a group. It will cost you around 1000-1500 KES depending on your negotiation skills and traffic. Simply ask the driver to take you to Mombasa Marine Park in Shanzu, and they should know the location. Ensure that you confirm the fare before starting your journey.
