If you are driving from Moshi, take the A23 road south towards Arusha. After about 30 km, turn right onto the A104 road towards Tanga. Continue for approximately 85 km until you reach the town of Shimoni. Once in Shimoni, follow the signs to Shimoni Slave Caves located near the coastline. There is a parking area available near the caves. Note that fuel costs might vary, so ensure to check the current prices at local gas stations.

From Moshi, head to the Moshi bus station and catch a matatu (shared minibus) heading to Tanga. The journey takes about 2-3 hours. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Shimoni. Once you arrive in Shimoni, you can walk to the Shimoni Slave Caves, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from the matatu drop-off point. The cost for the matatu ride is generally around 1,000-2,000 KES. Ensure you have cash in hand for the fare.
