Private Car
If you're traveling by private car, start from Moshi town. Head northeast on the B1 road towards the town of Marangu. After approximately 20 kilometers, look for signs directing you towards the Rongai route. Turn left onto the road that leads to Rongai Gate. Continue on this road for about 28 kilometers until you reach the entrance of the gate. Ensure you have a map or GPS to assist you, as some sections may have unmarked routes.
Public Transport (Matatu)
From Moshi, you can catch a matatu (shared taxi) heading towards Marangu. These matatus leave from the Moshi bus station frequently. Once you reach Marangu, you can hire a local taxi to take you directly to Rongai Gate. Be sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. The taxi ride from Marangu to Rongai Gate will take approximately 30 minutes.
Guided Tour
Many tourists opt for organized tours that include transportation to Rongai Gate. If you book a trekking package, transportation is typically included.
