Walking
From Nyamasaria, head towards the main road (Kisumu-Kakamega Road). As you reach the main road, turn left and continue walking. Look for a sign for Hippo Point, which is located near the shores of Lake Victoria. The walk is approximately 30 minutes from Nyamasaria, depending on your pace. Stay on the main road and watch for local landmarks such as the Nyamasaria Market to keep your bearings.
Motorbike Taxi (Boda Boda)
For a quicker option, you can hire a motorbike taxi (boda boda) from any point in Nyamasaria. Just tell the rider 'Hippo Point' or 'Hippopoint.' The ride should take about 10-15 minutes and will cost you around 100-200 Kenyan Shillings depending on your negotiation skills and the distance. Be sure to wear a helmet and confirm the fare before starting your journey.
Public Transport
You can take a matatu (shared minibus) from one of the stops in Nyamasaria heading towards Kisumu town. Ask the conductor to drop you off at 'Hippo Point' or near the lakeside. This method may take longer, around 20-30 minutes, and will cost approximately 50 Kenyan Shillings. Be attentive to your surroundings and follow the conductor's guidance to ensure you get off at the right stop.
