Car
If you are traveling by car from Lake Bogoria, start at the main entrance of Lake Bogoria National Reserve. Drive southeast towards the road leading to Kabarnet. Continue on this road for about 30 kilometers until you reach the town of Kabarnet. Once in Kabarnet, follow the signs for Kaprogonya Caves, which are located just outside the town. The caves are approximately 10 kilometers from the center of Kabarnet. You will find them at the coordinates 0.4762° N, 35.7385° E. Ensure to have Google Maps or a GPS device for accurate navigation. Parking is available near the caves.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start by taking a matatu (shared taxi) from Lake Bogoria to Kabarnet. The fare is approximately 100-200 Kenyan Shillings. Once you arrive in Kabarnet, you can either take a motorcycle taxi (boda-boda) or another matatu heading towards the Kaprogonya area. The fare for the boda-boda is about 50-100 Kenyan Shillings. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they know the location of the Kaprogonya Caves. The total travel time can vary, but expect around 1.5 to 2 hours for the entire journey.
