Car
If you are traveling by car, head to Kendu Bay. From Kisumu, take the A1 road towards Homa Bay. After approximately 40 kilometers, take the turnoff onto the B5 road towards Kendu Bay. Drive for about 20 kilometers until you reach the town of Kendu Bay. From Kendu Bay, follow the signs towards Lake Simbi Nyaima, which is approximately 8 kilometers away. The road is mostly unpaved, so drive carefully. Once you arrive at Lake Simbi Nyaima, you may park your car at designated parking areas.
Public Transportation
To reach Lake Simbi Nyaima via public transportation, start by taking a matatu (shared taxi) from Kisumu to Kendu Bay. The ride typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and costs around 100-200 KES. Once you arrive in Kendu Bay, you can take another matatu or a motorcycle taxi (boda boda) to Lake Simbi Nyaima. The ride from Kendu Bay to the lake will take about 15-20 minutes and cost around 50-100 KES. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting your journey.
Motorcycle Taxi (Boda Boda)
If you're already in Kendu Bay and prefer a quicker option, you can hire a boda boda to take you directly to Lake Simbi Nyaima. The fare should be negotiated beforehand, typically around 100-200 KES for a one-way trip. The ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Be sure to wear a helmet and follow safety guidelines during your ride.
