Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Kisumu CBD, head towards Kenyatta Highway. Walk north until you reach the junction with Oginga Odinga Street. Turn left onto Oginga Odinga Street and continue walking until you reach the Kisumu Municipal Market. From the market, continue straight until you reach the waterfront area. Lake Victoria is located along the waterfront, where you will see beautiful views of the lake.

  • Boda Boda (Motorcycle Taxi)

    If you prefer a quicker method, you can hire a boda boda from any major street in Kisumu CBD. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your trip. Instruct the rider to take you to the Kisumu waterfront area, specifically to the location near the Kisumu pier, which is very close to Lake Victoria. Expect to pay around 100-200 KES for this short ride.

  • Matatu (Shared Van)

    Another option is to take a matatu from Kisumu CBD. You can find matatus heading towards the Nyalenda route. Board any matatu that is going to Nyalenda, and inform the driver or conductor that you want to stop at the Kisumu waterfront. The fare for this trip should be around 30-50 KES. Once you get off, walk towards the waterfront, and you will see Lake Victoria.
