Walking
If you're starting from the Old Port of Mombasa, head southeast towards Moi Avenue. Walk along Moi Avenue until you reach the junction with Nkurumah Road. Turn left onto Nkurumah Road and continue straight until you reach the main roundabout at the entrance of Fort Jesus. From the Fort, proceed to the entrance of Mbaraki Pillar, which is located about 1.5 kilometers from Fort Jesus. Look for signs pointing towards the Mbaraki area.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from a local rental shop near the Old Port or Fort Jesus. Cycle southeast on Moi Avenue, then turn left onto Nkurumah Road. Continue going straight until you reach the Fort Jesus roundabout. After that, take a right turn towards Mbaraki and follow the signs for approximately 1.5 kilometers until you arrive at Mbaraki Pillar.
Public Transport (Matatu)
Find a matatu (shared taxi) at any matatu stage in the city center, specifically those heading towards Mbaraki or Likoni. Board the matatu and inform the driver you want to go to Mbaraki Pillar. The ride will take about 15-20 minutes. Get off at the nearest stop and walk for about 10 minutes in the direction of the Mbaraki Pillar, which is marked by local signage.
