Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car, ensure you have a GPS or a reliable map. From Nanyuki town, head southeast on the A2 highway towards Nyeri. After about 25 kilometers, turn right onto the B5 road towards the Mount Kenya National Park entrance. Follow the signs for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach the park gate. Note that there is an entrance fee of approximately 1000 KES for residents and around 3000 KES for non-residents.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a matatu (shared taxi) from Nanyuki to the Mount Kenya National Park entrance. Matatus leave frequently from the Nanyuki town center. The fare is around 200 KES. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you will need to pay the entrance fee, as mentioned before. Ensure you have some cash on hand, as card payments may not be accepted.

Hiking
If you are already within the Mount Kenya Region and prefer to hike, you can access various trails leading to the peak. Ensure you are well-prepared with appropriate hiking gear. The Sirimon route is a popular choice, starting from the Sirimon gate. From Nanyuki, take a matatu to the Sirimon gate, which is about 20 kilometers from Nanyuki. The fare is approximately 300 KES. Remember to check in at the gate and pay the park entrance fee.
