Car
If you are driving, start from the center of Mount Longonot. Head southeast on the main road (Mai Mahiu - Narok Road) towards the Mount Longonot National Park entrance. The entrance is approximately 5 kilometers away. Look for the sign for Mount Longonot National Park on your right. There is a parking area available at the entrance. The park is open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and a park entry fee of around 30 KES for residents and 600 KES for non-residents is applicable.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a matatu (shared minibus) from Nairobi to Mai Mahiu. The matatus leave from the Nairobi bus station and the journey usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you reach Mai Mahiu, you can hire a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you directly to the Mount Longonot National Park entrance, which is about 5 kilometers away. Ensure you negotiate the fare beforehand; it should be around 200-300 KES. The park entry fee will also apply upon arrival.
Taxi or Ride-sharing
If you prefer a more comfortable option, you can book a taxi or use a ride-sharing service like Uber or Bolt from Mount Longonot to Mount Longonot National Park. This will take about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. The cost for this service may range from 300 KES to 800 KES, depending on the time of day and demand.
