Car
From any location in North Eastern Province, head towards the nearest major town, such as Garissa or Isiolo. From Garissa, take the A3 road heading towards Nairobi. After approximately 100 kilometers, you will reach the junction with the A2 road. Turn left onto the A2 road and continue for about 50 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Mwea National Reserve, and take the turn-off towards Mavuria. Follow the signs; the reserve is approximately 20 kilometers from the turn-off.
Public Transportation
Start by taking a matatu (shared taxi) or bus from your current location to Garissa or Isiolo, depending on which is closer. Once in Garissa or Isiolo, look for a matatu heading towards Nairobi. Inform the driver or conductor that you want to get off at the junction with the A2 road. After about 50 kilometers, once you reach the junction, you can either walk or find a local taxi to take you to Mwea National Reserve, which is about 20 kilometers away from the junction.

If you prefer a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi from your current location straight to Mwea National Reserve. This option is more expensive but will save you time. Ensure to negotiate the fare before starting the journey. The taxi driver should be familiar with the route to Mwea National Reserve, located approximately 20 kilometers from the A2 junction.
