Car
If you're traveling by car within North Eastern Province, start from the nearest major town, Garissa. From Garissa, head west on the A7 highway towards Nairobi. After approximately 150 kilometers, take the B5 road towards Ol Joro Orok. Follow the B5 road for about 60 kilometers until you reach the turn-off to Ol Joro Orok. Wa gakenia is located just outside the town, approximately 5 kilometers from the center of Ol Joro Orok. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition, as some roads may be rough.
Public Transportation
To reach Wa gakenia using public transport, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) from Garissa to Ol Joro Orok. The journey may take around 3-4 hours. Once you arrive in Ol Joro Orok, you can hire a boda boda (motorbike taxi) to take you to Wa gakenia, which is about 5 kilometers away. Make sure to negotiate the fare for the boda boda before starting your journey. Expect to pay around 200-300 KES for the ride.
Taxi

The taxi will take you directly to your destination, which is about 210 kilometers from Garissa. Ensure to agree on the fare before the journey begins.
Combination of Transport
An alternative option is to take a bus from Garissa to the nearest major town, then switch to a matatu to Ol Joro Orok. Once in Ol Joro Orok, you can hire a boda boda to reach Wa gakenia. This option might be more time-consuming but could be more cost-effective depending on the bus and matatu fares.
