Car
If you are driving from Nyandarua Range, head towards the town of Nanyuki. From Nanyuki, take the Nanyuki-Meru road (A2). Continue on this road for approximately 30 kilometers until you see signs for the Olbolosat turn-off on your right. Turn onto this road and follow it for about 10 kilometers until you reach Lake Olbolosat. Make sure to check your fuel before leaving Nanyuki as fuel stations may be limited along the route.
Public Transportation
To reach Lake Olbolosat using public transportation, start by taking a matatu (shared taxi) from Nyandarua Range to Nanyuki. These matatus leave regularly from the main bus stages. Once in Nanyuki, look for matatus heading towards Meru. Inform the driver that you want to stop at the Olbolosat turn-off. After you reach the turn-off, you may need to walk approximately 10 kilometers to the lake, or you can try to find a local motorbike taxi (boda boda) to take you the rest of the distance. Ensure you confirm the fare before starting your ride.
Motorbike Taxi (Boda Boda)
If you are close to the turn-off for Lake Olbolosat, consider hiring a motorbike taxi (boda boda) to take you the remaining distance. You can negotiate a price with the driver, but expect to pay around 200 to 500 Kenyan Shillings depending on the distance and negotiation skills. Boda bodas can be found at major junctions or you may ask locals to recommend a driver.
