Car
If you are driving to Hippo Point from Kisumu city center, head south on the Kisumu-Busia Road (A1). Continue for about 5 kilometers until you reach a junction. Take a left turn onto the Hippo Point Road. Follow this road for approximately 3 kilometers, and you will see signs directing you to Hippo Point. The entrance is located near the lakeshore, with ample parking available.
Matatu (Public Minibus)
From Kisumu city center, head to the main bus stage where matatus (shared minibuses) are available. Look for a matatu heading to Hippo Point or one that goes towards the Kisumu-Busia Road. The fare should be around 50-100 KES. Once you reach the junction near Hippo Point Road, you can either walk (approximately 3 km) or look for a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you directly to Hippo Point.
Boda Boda (Motorcycle Taxi)
If you are already close to the Hippo Point Road junction, you can hire a boda boda to take you directly to Hippo Point. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it should be around 100-200 KES for a short ride. Ensure to wear a helmet and follow safety protocols while riding.
Walking
If you prefer to walk, from the Kisumu city center, head towards the Kisumu-Busia Road. Walk along the road for about 5 kilometers until you reach the Hippo Point Road junction. From there, it is about a 3 km walk to Hippo Point. Enjoy the scenic views along the way, but be cautious of traffic.
