Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards the main entrance of Mount Elgon National Park, located off the Kitale - Suam Road. Once inside the park, follow the signs leading to the Chesurur Falls. The main road, Mt. Elgon Park Rd, will guide you towards the falls. The drive is scenic and may take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on road conditions. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain as some parts of the road may be unpaved.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, board a matatu (shared taxi) heading to Kitale from Nairobi or Eldoret. Upon arriving in Kitale, transfer to a matatu that goes towards the Mount Elgon National Park entrance. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the park entrance. From the entrance, you may need to hire a local guide or arrange for a taxi to take you to Chesurur Falls, which is roughly a 30-45 minute drive from the entrance. Be prepared for additional costs for the guide or taxi services, which can vary.

• Walking/Hiking

  If you're adventurous and already within the park, hiking to Chesurur Falls is a rewarding option. Start from the park's main camp and follow the marked trails that lead to the falls. The hike can take about 1.5 to 2 hours, allowing you to enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the way. Ensure you have plenty of water and wear appropriate hiking gear. This option is free of charge, but you'll need to pay the park entrance fee, which is typically around $20 for foreign tourists.
