If you are driving from the main entrance of Mount Elgon National Park, head southeast on the main park road. Continue for about 15 kilometers until you reach a junction. Take the right fork towards Kanyarkwat and follow the road for approximately 5 kilometers. You will see signs for Kampala Viewpoint Hill. Once you reach the viewpoint, there is a small parking area available.

To reach Kampala Viewpoint Hill using public transportation, start by taking a matatu (shared minibus) from Mbale town to Kanyarkwat. The journey usually takes around 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Kanyarkwat, you can either walk or hire a local boda boda (motorcycle taxi) for the remaining 3 kilometers to the viewpoint. Make sure to agree on a fare with the boda boda rider before starting your journey.

For those already in Kanyarkwat, you can walk to Kampala Viewpoint Hill. From the center of Kanyarkwat, follow the dirt road heading northeast for about 3 kilometers. The path is well-trodden, and you will start to see signs directing you to the viewpoint. It should take approximately 45 minutes to an hour on foot.
