Car
From Shaba National Reserve, head southeast on the main road towards Isiolo. This road is generally well-maintained, but be cautious of wildlife and potholes. Continue for approximately 40 kilometers until you reach Isiolo town. In Isiolo, you can refuel your vehicle and purchase any supplies you may need. After Isiolo, take the A2 highway towards Meru. You'll travel about 60 kilometers on this road. Look for signs indicating the Nyambene National Reserve area as you approach. The reserve is located near the coordinates 0.5635625 latitude and 37.8526875 longitude, which should guide you directly to your destination.

Public Transportation
From Shaba National Reserve, you will need to arrange for a private transfer to Isiolo town as public transport options directly from the reserve are limited. Once in Isiolo, you can catch a matatu (shared taxi) or a bus heading towards Meru. The ride will take about 1 hour. Inform the driver that you want to get off near Nyambene National Reserve. Upon arrival, you may need to walk or hire a local taxi to reach the exact location of the reserve. Be prepared for costs: the private transfer might cost around KES 3,000 to 5,000, and the matatu fare to Meru is typically around KES 200 to 300.
