If you are traveling by car, start from the main entrance of Tsavo East National Park, which is at the Bachuma Gate. From the gate, drive along the main road within the park heading southeast for approximately 25 kilometers. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way and ensure to drive at a safe speed. Once you reach the junction with the sign for HIPPO POOL, turn left and follow the unpaved road for about 5 kilometers. The road will lead you directly to HIPPO POOL, where you can park your vehicle and enjoy the scenery.

Using public transportation can be a little more challenging. First, you would need to take a matatu (shared taxi) from Mombasa or Nairobi to the town of Voi, which is the nearest town to Tsavo East National Park. Upon reaching Voi, you can hire a local taxi or arrange for a safari vehicle to take you into the park. Inform the driver that you want to go to HIPPO POOL, and they will know the location. The taxi ride from Voi to HIPPO POOL will take approximately 1-2 hours depending on road conditions and wildlife sightings along the way.
