Car
If you are traveling by car from the main entrance of Tsavo East National Park, head southeast on the main road (C57) for about 30 kilometers until you reach the junction. Turn left onto the road leading towards Kanderi Swamp, which is approximately 12 kilometers away. Follow the signs towards Kanderi Swamp. Be aware that the roads can be rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. There may be a park entry fee of approximately 20 USD per person, which you should pay at the entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Kanderi Swamp using public transportation, first, take a matatu (shared taxi) from Nairobi to Tsavo East National Park. The journey will take about 4 to 6 hours, depending on traffic, and costs around 15-20 USD. Once you arrive at the main entrance of Tsavo East National Park, you can hire a local driver or a guide (costing approximately 50-80 USD for a short trip) to take you to Kanderi Swamp. The driver will know the route, which is about 12 kilometers from the main road and may involve navigating rough terrain.
