Getting There

  • Car

If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the Chyulu Hills National Park entrance. Drive southeast on the A109 highway, which is the main road connecting major towns in the region. After approximately 15 kilometers, look for the sign that indicates the turnoff towards the Shetani Caves. This is a well-marked gravel road. Continue on this road for about 5 kilometers until you reach the parking area for the Shetani Caves. Ensure your vehicle has a high clearance as some sections may be rough.

  • Public Transportation

If you are using public transportation, take a matatu (shared taxi) from the nearest town, such as Mtito Andei, towards Chyulu Hills. Inform the driver that you wish to stop at the Shetani Caves turnoff. Once you arrive at the turnoff (which is approximately 15 kilometers from the park entrance), you may need to hire a local boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you the remaining 5 kilometers to the caves. Expect to pay around 200-300 KES for the boda boda ride. Be sure to negotiate the price before starting the journey.
