Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Bokeo Province, particularly the city of Pak Beng. Head south on Route 2, following the signs for Ban Ta Hou. After approximately 50 kilometers, you will reach the junction for Ban Ta Hou. Turn left at the junction and continue for about 5 kilometers. You will see signs for Cagar Alam Bokeo as you approach. The exact location is GJ7X+CPX, Ban Ta Hou. Please note that while parking may be available near the preserve, it is advisable to check for any local parking fees.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a local bus or minivan from Pak Beng to Ban Ta Hou. The journey typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. Buses usually leave every hour from the main bus station in Pak Beng. Once you arrive in Ban Ta Hou, you can either walk or take a tuk-tuk to reach Cagar Alam Bokeo, which is about 2 kilometers from the bus drop-off point. Make sure to confirm the fare with the tuk-tuk driver before starting your journey.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous travelers, renting a bicycle in Pak Beng can be a great way to reach Cagar Alam Bokeo. Follow Route 2 south for about 50 kilometers, then take the left turn towards Ban Ta Hou. The ride can be challenging due to the terrain, so ensure you are physically prepared. Take plenty of water and snacks, as there may not be many places to stop along the way. The preserve is located approximately 5 kilometers from the main road.
