Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Bokeo Province and head towards the main road heading north. Follow Route 13 until you reach the border with Thailand. You will need to cross the river using the bridge to enter Chiang Rai Province. Once in Chiang Rai, continue on Route 1 (Phahonyothin Road) heading in the direction of Chiang Saen. After approximately 30 kilometers, look for signs directing you to Phra That Doi Pu Khao. Turn left onto the local road that leads to the site. Parking is available near the entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Phra That Doi Pu Khao via public transportation, first, take a local bus or tuk-tuk from the center of Bokeo Province to the nearest bus terminal. Look for a bus heading to Chiang Rai; this may cost around 50,000 LAK. Once you arrive at the Chiang Rai bus station, transfer to a bus or songthaew (shared taxi) heading towards Chiang Saen. The fare for this leg will be approximately 30,000 LAK. Upon reaching Chiang Saen, you can either hire a tuk-tuk or walk to the site, which is about 10 kilometers away. Be sure to negotiate the fare if using a tuk-tuk.
Taxi
For a more direct option, consider hiring a taxi from Bokeo Province to Phra That Doi Pu Khao. This will be the most convenient but also the most expensive option, with estimated costs around 300,000 to 500,000 LAK depending on bargaining and the taxi service. The journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic.
