Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from Vientiane, head northeast on Route 13. Continue on this route for approximately 150 kilometers until you reach Vang Vieng. Once in Vang Vieng, follow the signs towards the center. After reaching the town center, take a left onto Route 13 North and drive for about 10 kilometers. Look for signs pointing to Kaeng Nyui Waterfall. You will have to turn onto a smaller road to access the waterfall area, which is well-marked. The final stretch may require a bit of off-road driving, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended if the weather conditions are wet. Parking is available near the entrance to the waterfall.

• Public Transportation

  From Vientiane, take a bus from the northern bus station (Talat Sao) to Vang Vieng. The journey takes approximately 4-5 hours and costs around 50,000 to 60,000 Lao Kip. Once you arrive in Vang Vieng, you can hire a tuk-tuk or a shared taxi to take you to Kaeng Nyui Waterfall. The tuk-tuk ride should cost around 30,000 to 50,000 Kip per person, depending on the number of passengers. Make sure to negotiate the fare before you get in. The tuk-tuk will drop you off at the entrance of the waterfall area, from where you'll need to walk about 15-20 minutes to reach the waterfall itself.

• Motorbike Rental

  For a more adventurous option, consider renting a motorbike in Vang Vieng. Rental shops are abundant, and prices typically range from 50,000 to 100,000 Kip per day. From Vang Vieng, head north on Route 13 and then follow the signs to Kaeng Nyui Waterfall. The ride takes about 30-40 minutes. Be cautious of the road conditions, especially if it has rained, as some paths may be muddy. Once you arrive, there is a small fee for parking your motorbike near the entrance.
