From the center of Chiang Rai, head northeast on Route 1 (Highway 1) for about 13 kilometers until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto Route 1123. Continue on Route 1123 for approximately 40 kilometers, following signs towards Wiang Kaen District. Upon entering Wiang Kaen, keep an eye out for local signs directing you to Pha Bong. The total drive should take around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.

Public Transportation

To reach Pha Bong by public transportation, start at the Chiang Rai Bus Station. Look for a bus or minivan heading towards Wiang Kaen; these typically run every hour. The fare should be around 30 to 50 Thai Baht. Once you arrive at the Wiang Kaen Bus Station, you can either hire a tuk-tuk or a local taxi to take you to Pha Bong. The distance from the bus station to Pha Bong is about 15 kilometers, and the taxi fare should be approximately 150 to 200 Thai Baht.

Combination of Public Transport and Walking

If you prefer a more adventurous route, take a bus from Chiang Rai to Wiang Kaen as mentioned above. After reaching Wiang Kaen, you can explore the local area by walking.
