Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the center of Luang Prabang, near the Royal Palace Museum. From there, head east towards the Mekong River, continuing until you reach the main road. Follow the road north, passing by various shops and local eateries. After approximately 1.5 kilometers, you will reach the junction with Route 13. Cross the road carefully and continue heading north on Route 13. After about 3 kilometers, look for a sign indicating 'Ban Long' or 'Wildlife Sanctuary'. Turn left onto the dirt road leading into the sanctuary area. The entrance will be about 500 meters down this road.

    Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Luang Prabang. Begin your journey at the main street and cycle towards the north. Follow the same route as on foot by heading towards the Mekong River, then north along Route 13. After about 4.5 kilometers, keep an eye out for the sign for 'Ban Long' or 'Wildlife Sanctuary' and turn left. The sanctuary entrance will be about 500 meters down the dirt road.
