Erected in 1988, the monument pays tribute to the residents of Kuldīga who were killed between 1941 and 1945. The Nazis entered Kuldīga on July 1, 1941, and subsequently issued orders restricting the lives of Jewish people, arresting hundreds. Mass killings began in mid-July, carried out by an SD unit with the assistance of local self-defenders, continuing into August. While four known sites in Rumba Parish were used for the mass shootings of Jewish people, the exact number of victims and circumstances remain unknown. The monument, created by sculptor Inta Berga, features an inscription in both Latvian and Russian: “Eternal Remembrance to the Victims of Fascist Terror from Kuldīga Municipality 1941–1945”.
