Discover more about Lībiešu zemnieka - zvejnieka sēta. Dēliņi

Lībiešu Zemnieka-Zvejnieka Sēta 'Dēliņi' transports you to the 19th century, showcasing the life of a prosperous Livonian fisherman-farmer. The homestead, originally from the village of Lūžņa on the Baltic coast, was carefully relocated to the open-air museum in 1971. The buildings, constructed between 1819 and the early 20th century, form a distinctive three-courtyard layout. The ensemble includes a dwelling house, a barn for beekeeping equipment (built around 1880), a granary for grain and clothing, a fish barn with a carriage shed, a cattle shed-barn with a drawbridge, a pantry, and a pigsty. Inside, you'll find a rich collection of household items, tools, and fishing equipment that belonged to Paulīne Kļaviņa, a Livonian language storyteller. The exhibits highlight the Livonian people's deep connection to the sea, their farming practices, and their unique cultural identity. The simple yet beautiful design of everyday objects reflects the Livonians' keen sense of aesthetics, with plant ornaments frequently featured in their decorations. Today, only a small number of Livonians remain in the coastal villages of northwestern Kurzeme, along the Baltic Sea. Visiting 'Dēliņi' provides a valuable insight into their heritage and way of life.
