Getting There

  • Car

    If driving from Cēsis, take the A2 road towards Valmiera. After approximately 15 km, turn left onto the P8 road, following signs for Liepa Parish. Continue on the P8 for about 5 km, then turn right onto a local road towards Līču – Laņģu Cliffs. Follow this road for about 2 km to reach the parking area near the cliffs. Parking is free.

  • Public Transport

    To reach Līču – Laņģu Cliffs by public transport, take a bus from Cēsis to Liepa Parish. Check the local bus schedule for departure times, as they may vary. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. From the Liepa Parish bus stop, walk approximately 1.5 km towards the cliffs, following the path signs. A single bus fare from Cēsis to Liepa costs approximately €1-€3.

  • Walking

    If you are already in Liepa, you can walk to Līču – Laņģu Cliffs. From the center of Liepa, follow the road towards the cliffs. The walk is approximately 3 km and takes around 45 minutes. Follow the signs for Līču – Laņģu Cliffs.

Līču – Laņģu Cliffs are situated on the left bank of the Gauja River valley and stretch for approximately one kilometer. The maximum height of the cliffs reaches about 30 meters. These sandstone cliffs feature diverse formations, including vertical walls and deep ravines. Around 20 springs emerge at the base of the cliffs, contributing to the formation of caves and niches.The cliffs are composed of Gauja suite sandstone outcrops dating back to the Devonian Period. The area is home to several caves, including Lielā Laņģu Cave (48 m), Vidējā Laņģu Cave (30 m), and Mazā Laņģu Cave (4.2 m). In the northern part of the cliffs, a collapsed cave has transformed into a ravine with 8-meter-high walls and a cave with three entrances.A 6-7 km walking trail has been established around the cliffs, allowing visitors to explore the area safely. The trail passes both Līču and Laņģu Cliffs. Līču Cliffs are the most impressive, reaching up to 30 meters in height and 200 meters in width. Laņģu Cliffs are smaller, with a height of up to 11 meters. The trail also goes past Lode clay pit.
