Driving
Afriski Mountain Resort is located approximately 5 hours' drive from Johannesburg. From Johannesburg, take the N3 highway towards Harrismith. Continue onto the N5 to Bethlehem, then take the R712 and R711 to Clarens. From Clarens, follow the signs to the border post at Caledonspoort. After crossing the border into Lesotho, follow the A1 highway. The A1 highway can be challenging, especially the Moteng Pass, and it's recommended to drive a vehicle with a 1.4l engine or higher. A 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended for navigating the Moteng Pass. Be aware of toll fees at the border post. There is a vehicle entrance fee of R100 if you are a day visitor.
