Regular train connections are available from Gossau and St. Gallen. A single train ticket from St. Gallen to Wasserauen costs approximately CHF 15-20.

    Drive to Wasserauen via Steinegg and Weissbad from Appenzell. Follow signs to the metered parking lots near the Ebenalp cable car. Parking costs CHF 3 for 3 hours or CHF 5 for 24 hours. Only coins (EUR + CHF) and local parking apps are accepted.

  • Walking

    For a scenic approach, hike from Wasserauen to Ebenalp. Follow the trail along the Schwendebach stream, turning left at the Forscherstein. The mountain trail leads through the beech forest up to the Blättli forest clearing and Alp Bommen. Continue on the gravel path to the Gartenwald ski lift, then ascend to the summit plateau. The hike takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
