Forscherweg Malbun: An Alpine Adventure Trail

The Forscherweg Malbun, also known as the Explorer's Path, offers a unique and engaging way to discover the natural beauty of the Liechtenstein Alps. This themed hiking trail is specifically designed for families and children, featuring ten interactive stations that blend education with outdoor fun. Located in Malbun, Liechtenstein's main holiday resort, the path provides an opportunity to explore the alpine environment through hands-on activities and challenges. The adventure begins at the "Schlucher-Treff" in the center of Malbun, where you'll find the first stations, including a weather station and a sundial. As you follow the trail, you'll encounter various tasks and games related to the local flora, fauna, and natural phenomena. The stations are constructed from natural materials, primarily stone, blending seamlessly with the environment. Along the route, children can discover protected native plants, build a Wildmandli (a small stone figure), measure animal jumps, and solve musical puzzles. The trail also offers scenic views and picnic spots, making it a perfect day out in nature. A detour to the Friedenskapelle, Liechtenstein's highest church, is also an option. For a more immersive experience, rent a rucksack from the Malbun Center, equipped with tools like a magnifying glass, ruler, and journal to enhance the exploration. Completing the Forscherweg earns young explorers a special reward: the Forscher-Thron (Explorer's Throne). The trail is approximately 4.4 km long and takes about 2 hours to complete, with a moderate ascent, making it suitable for families with children.
