From downtown Baton Rouge, head to the nearest bus stop at the intersection of 3rd St and Florida Blvd. Take the Baton Rouge Transit (BTR) Bus Route 1, which runs northbound towards the zoo. Stay on the bus for approximately 25 minutes and get off at the Thomas Rd stop. From there, walk east on Thomas Rd for about 0.5 miles until you reach BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo at 3601 Thomas Rd. The zoo will be on your left.

If you prefer to bicycle, start from downtown Baton Rouge and head north on 4th St. Continue onto North Blvd until you reach the intersection with Airline Hwy. Turn right onto Airline Hwy, then left onto Thomas Rd. Follow Thomas Rd for about 1.5 miles; the zoo will be on your right at 3601 Thomas Rd. Make sure to use bicycle lanes and follow traffic rules.

If you are in close proximity to the zoo, you can walk from nearby neighborhoods. For example, from the North Baton Rouge area, head south on Thomas Rd directly towards the zoo. It is about a 30-minute walk from the nearest residential area. Just follow the sidewalk and you'll see the zoo entrance at 3601 Thomas Rd.
