Public Bus
To reach Bayou St. John in New Orleans from Slidell, you can take the Jefferson Transit bus. Start by walking to the nearest bus stop on Gause Blvd. and board the bus heading towards New Orleans. Ride until you reach the 'New Orleans' terminal. From there, transfer to the RTA bus #5 (Pratt). Make sure to check the bus schedule for the exact timings. Once on the RTA #5, get off at the 'Bayou St. John' stop. The bayou will be within walking distance from there.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from a local rental shop in Slidell. Start by heading west on Gause Blvd towards I-10. Take the bike lane on the side of the road until you reach the I-10 Bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the bike path signs towards New Orleans. Once you get into New Orleans, navigate towards Bayou St. John by following the signs or using a map app. The location is easily accessible by bike, and you will enjoy the scenic ride.
Walking
For those who enjoy walking, you can head to the Slidell Amtrak Station and board a train to New Orleans. Upon arrival at the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal, walk towards Canal Street and catch the RTA streetcar (either the Canal or Riverfront line) towards the French Quarter. Get off at 'Carondelet Street' and transfer to a bus or continue walking. Follow the directions on your map app towards Bayou St. John, which is about a 30-40 minute walk from the streetcar stop.
