If you're driving from Antananarivo, take the RN2 highway towards Toamasina. After approximately 300 km, you'll reach the town of Toamasina. From Toamasina, head north on the RN5 for about 50 km until you reach Mahavelona. Once in Mahavelona, navigate towards the 8GC4+VCJ coordinates. The fort is located just off the main road in Mahavelona. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Fort Manda.

Once you arrive at the Toamasina taxi-brousse station, you can find another taxi-brousse heading to Mahavelona. The fare for the taxi-brousse from Antananarivo to Toamasina ranges from 30,000 to 50,000 MGA, and the Mahavelona trip should cost around 5,000 MGA. Upon reaching Mahavelona, ask locals for directions to the fort, as it is a well-known landmark.

For an adventurous option, consider renting a motorcycle in Toamasina. After reaching Toamasina, look for local rental shops near the taxi-brousse station. Prices for rentals typically start around 30,000 MGA per day. Ride north on the RN5 towards Mahavelona, where you can follow the signage to Fort Manda. Make sure to carry a map or use a GPS device, as the roads can be rural and signage may be limited.
