Shuttle Bus
From any point within Acadia National Park, locate the Island Explorer shuttle bus stops. These buses are free and provide service around the park and into Bar Harbor. Board the shuttle heading towards Bar Harbor. The ride will take approximately 15-30 minutes depending on your starting point. The bus will drop you off at various locations in Bar Harbor, including the main street area where many attractions, shops, and restaurants are located.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the rental shops near the entrance to Acadia National Park. Once you have your bike, head towards the Park Loop Road and follow the signs to Bar Harbor. It's about a 5-mile ride from the park entrance. You will follow the scenic route along the ocean, enjoying beautiful views as you approach Bar Harbor. Ensure you follow the designated bike paths for safety.
Walking
For those feeling adventurous and physically fit, walking to Bar Harbor is possible. Starting from the Hulls Cove Visitor Center, take the scenic path along the Park Loop Road, which is approximately 3 miles to the downtown area of Bar Harbor. The walk will take around 1-1.5 hours. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated, as there are limited facilities along the route.
